Fund Background
Findlay Park Investment Management Ltd was incorporated in June 1997, and its first fund, the Findlay Park US Smaller Companies Fund was launched in March 1998. In April 2003 Findlay Park Partners LLP was formed and assumed the role of Investment Manager to the Fund which in January 2011 was renamed to the Findlay Park American Fund. In October 2006, the partnerships second fund, the Findlay Park Latin American Fund was launched.
The fund manager of the Findlay Park Latin American Fund is Rupert Brandt CFA.
Rupert Brandt CFA, aged 42, joined the City in 1994 and was trained by James Findlay and ultimately became his number two in F&C's US Smaller Companies team. He moved across to the emerging markets side to cover the Latin American markets at F&C in 1998 where he took over responsibility for F&C's Argentine and Mexican assets. He took over the management of all of the Latin American regions assets in early 2003 and ran the F&C Latin American Investment Trust from 31/03/2003 to 31/03/06. Over the period that he ran this fund, it was the best performing Latin American closed-end fund in Fund Datas global peer group. Rupert joined Findlay Park as a Partner in April 2006. He applies the Findlay Park investment methodology to Latin American equities and is responsible for both the Latin American Fund and the Latin American assets in the American Fund.
The investment objective of the fund is to achieve capital growth through investment in the securities of Latin American Companies. The Fund aims to achieve as high a return as possible in absolute terms over the long term, while attempting to minimise the overall level of risk in the portfolio over the same period. It should be noted that the Findlay Park Latin American Fund is not eligible to be held by residents of the United States of America.
