Fund Background

Findlay Park Investment Management Ltd was incorporated in June 1997, and the Findlay Park US Smaller Companies Fund was launched in March 1998. In April 2003 Findlay Park Partners LLP was formed and assumed the role of Investment Manager, and in May 2006 the Findlay Park US Smaller Companies Fund was renamed the Findlay Park American Smaller Companies Fund.

The Fund Managers are James Findlay, Charles Park, Anthony Kingsley, Rupert Brandt, Sarah-Jane Burns and Edward McMullan.

James Findlay, aged 52, was at Foreign & Colonial from 1983 until 1997.

Charles Park, aged 44, was at Hill Samuel from 1994 until 1997 and was previously at Framlington from 1990 until 1994.

Anthony Kingsley, aged 38, was at MFS from 1997 until 2002 and previously worked with James Findlay at Foreign & Colonial from 1993 to 1997.

Rupert Brandt CFA, aged 40, was at Foreign and Colonial from 1994 until 2006 and previously worked with James Findlay at Foreign and Colonial from 1994 to 1997.

Sarah-Jane Burns, aged 37, was at Hendersons from 2005 until November 2008. Prior to this, she worked at Gartmore.

Edward McMullan, aged 42, worked at Hermes all his investment career and joined Findlay Park in December 2008.

The Findlay Park American Smaller Companies Fund maintained its Standard & Poor's 'AAA' rating in 2009. At the Standard & Poor's UK Fund Awards 2007, the Fund was awarded 1st place in the Smaller Companies North American Sector over 5 years out of 29 funds. This is the third consecutive year that the Fund has been awarded 1st place.

The investment objective of the Fund is to achieve capital growth principally through investment in the securities of American smaller companies. The Fund will aim to achieve as high a return as possible above the benchmark Frank Russell 2000 Price Index while attempting to achieve an overall level of risk below that of the Index. It should be noted that the Findlay Park American Smaller Companies Fund is not eligible to be held by residents of the United States of America.
